Count Me In! invites Tewkesbury to a weekend of FREE dance
This weekend (March 6th/7th) Count Me In! is hosting a dance extravaganza in Tewkesbury, with FREE activities for all the family.
The activities include Salsa classes, street dance, ballet and cheerleading as well as water dance and are aimed at all members of the family, from children to the elderly.
The CMI dance events are in support of the Department of Health’s national initiative Let’s Dance with Change4Life, which is giving children the opportunity to participate in free dance classes during the first ever official national weekend of dance.
Emily Young, CMI Community Dance Coach, said: “We all know how important being active is in preventing obesity, heart disease and other serious health problems later in life but it's not always easy to get enough exercise. Count Me In! has teamed up with Change4life to offer free dance taster sessions and I hope the local community will get involved and try something new.”
On Saturday, March 6 from 11.30-12.00pm a Salsa Fit class will be held in the dance studio at Tewkesbury School, this is for all ages. This class is followed by Ballet Stretch between 12.15pm and 1.00pm at the same location and is also suitable for all ages.
On Saturday, between 10am and 11am a Street Dance session for all ages will be held at the Roses Theatre. Between 11.30am and 12.30pm there will be a session on Creative Dance for children aged five to 12 at the same location. Children are urged to bring along their favourite story book. The day’s activities end with a Family Dance/Swim session for all ages at Cascades between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
On Sunday, March 7, eight to 16-year-olds can take part in a Cheerleading Session at Tewkesbury School dance studio. This will be held between 2pm and 3pm and is open to boys and girls.
This weekend’s sessions are the first in a whole host of dance activities being rolled out across Tewkesbury by the Count Me In! programme this year. For more information, please contact Emily Young on 07792974611 or email emilyyoung@glos.ac.uk.
