How long has it been since your last health MOT?

Count Me In! is inviting people over 50 in the Tewkesbury borough to undergo a FREE health MOT and take part in a host of activities including healthy eating workshops and Tai Chi.

The Health & Well-being Event will be held at Marina Court, Trafalgar Road in Tewkesbury from 10am until 2pm on October 14th.

The drop-in health MOT event, which has been organised in partnership with Count Me In!, Gloucestershire PCT, Gloucestershire County Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council and the University of Gloucestershire will include tests for cholesterol levels, blood pressure and balance.

Tracy Marshall, Count Me In! board member, said: “This is a great opportunity for people over 50 to have a free basic health check as well as getting advice on what steps they can take towards improving their health. Count Me In! is all about getting people to make small lifestyle changes that will have a big impact on their health and well-being and this event is a fun and easy way for them to do this.”

Health experts will be available throughout the event to provide guidance and lifestyle advice as well as enter attendants into the many competitions organised for the day. There will also be a ‘grow your own’ food demonstration by Count Me In! Growing Places officer Jo Worthy-Jones and also healthy eating workshops.

The Count Me In! team will be on hand, alongside other partners, to discuss how the programme can benefit the Over 50’s and how they can get involved with the Active & Able sessions taking place across the town.

People can also take part in Over 50’s Tai Chi. The 30-minute sessions will take place at 11am and 1pm, and can be enjoyed either standing or sitting.
