Tewkesbury residents, have your say!

Thousands of Tewkesbury residents are being urged to show their support for a healthier future by completing a town-wide community survey.

The survey, which will be arriving at 8,750 homes across the town over the next week, will question the townspeople’s views on what they eat, transport, and physical activity. Residents may remember that they received this survey last year, and this is the first of two follow-ups.

“Last year’s survey had a great response and we are looking forward to a similar result this year. Residents' individual views are very important to understand the impact of the project for the community of Tewkesbury. We really need those who responded to the last survey to respond again this year,” said Evaluation leader Dr Diane Crone.

The results from the survey, which is the second of three in the evaluation process, are being collated by the University of Gloucestershire and used to gauge the success of the Count Me In! programme which is sweeping the town.

The University is working in partnership with the Primary Care Trust, Tewkesbury Borough Council and local stakeholders on the two-year programme.

“At the end of the evaluation process, we will be able to gauge not only what people’s opinions are on the main themes of the project, but also see if their views have changed over the two-year period and whether the goal to make Tewkesbury a healthier more environmentally-friendly place, has been successful. The more information we have, the more we can do to reach that goal, so we ask every person to take five minutes out to complete the survey,” added Dr Crone.

Over the next few days, households in Tewkesbury Town and Mitton, Northway, Prior’s Park, Newtown, and Ashchurch and Walton Cardiff will receive an evaluation pack containing a covering letter, copies of the questionnaire, and a return envelope.
